Story

My engagement begins with the script. I read it so I can understand how the intimate scenes fit into the whole. I speak with the director to understand the vision. My job is to listen, understand what the goals are, and strategize how to get there safely.

Prep

I meet with the actors to hear any concerns they have about their intimate scenes. I share these issues with the director, facilitate discussions and find solutions. When needed, I coordinate with costumes/make-up to make sure that prosthetics are ordered or nudity garments are available. When relevant for TV and film, I work to confirm that nudity rider language is complete and clear.

Rehearsal

In theatre, I work with the actors to choreograph the beats of the intimate scenes within the director’s vision. For TV & Film, I attend rehearsals and help assure that the choreography stays within agreed upon limits. I’m happy to offer suggestions about blocking and can also hang back if creative input isn’t desired. What you can expect either way is a steady, supportive presence.

It’s Go Time

For TV and film, I’m on the set during intimate scenes serving a variety of functions to support the actors. I make sure that agreed upon boundaries are honored and the actors feel emotionally and physically safe. I provide support as needed – before, during and after the scene. I also ensure that closed set and negotiated nudity riders are honored.

For live performances, I provide structure and creative support for the actors leading into Dress, Tech and Previews. I prepare the team so that they are ready to fly solo knowing they can contact me during the run of the show, if need be.

“You know there’s somebody making sure lines don’t get crossed so you don’t have be worried about it while naked and performing.”

Emily Meade, Actress

Bonus

I can support the casting process by having candid discussions with auditioning actors about simulated sex or nudity scenes.

I can also serve as an advocate and ally for all LGBTQIA+ cast and crew.

“I handle issues as they come up to allow for storytelling magic while staying on schedule.”
